The
Horla Theatre Company
The
Horla Theatre Company was
formed in early 1999 as a production company concentrating on telling
stories through performances with a physical edge. In addition to this,
they also and promoting new talent from design to writing and music. There
first production, a double bill
of The Magistrate and The Cask of Amontillado, was performed at the Lion
& Unicorn Pub Theatre in Kentish Town, London NW5 in September 1999. In
January 2000 they secured a residency at The Rose & Crown Theatre in Hampton
Wick.
Horla
have been described by Time Out as "A young company clearly bristling
with ideas". In the past year they have brought their unique brand
of creativity to productions such as The Grimms classics, The Jests of
Skoggan and Yzeegus.
3 - 21 JULY Holra are presenting Hamlet. Designed by Tracy
Waller & Zoe Spence Horla presents Shakespeare's tragic tale of Love,
Power, Revenge, Madness and Extraordinary Circumstances.
Told with an ensemble of eight performers, using mime and physical theatre.

The
cast includes;
Sally Orrock (Hamlet), whose previous productions have included a European
tour of 'Shirley Valentine' and 'Mum' in Otto/Horla's production of Steven
Berkoff's Kvetch at the BAC.
Alison Ward (Gertrude) who played in GRIMMS with Horla last year, Kate
Lush (Laertes/Rosencrantz) GRIMMS, Kelly Philpott (Guildenstern) and Patrick
O'Neil (Polonius) who both recently played in The Jests Of Skoggan earlier
this year.
Other
cast members include Fiona Aldridge (Ophelia), Aaron Bixley (Claudius)
and Paul Hampton (Horatio). Alistair Green's recent directing credits
include The Jests Of Skoggan ('Drama of a quality that could teach the
West End - and some of the funded flag-bearers - a thing or two' - WHAT'S
ON), GRIMMS ('A young company clearly bristling with ideas' TIME OUT),
Kvetch at The BAC ('repulsive and very amusing...real feel for the darker
textures' TIME OUT and The Stratagem and Other Stories ('physical inventiveness
and imaginative storytelling' TOTAL THEATRE).
Set
design by Tracy Waller whose previous work has included puppets for The
Lusiads for Wireframe ('highly atmospheric' - THE GUARDIAN), set and costume
for GRIMMS and The Stratagem for Horla. JULY 3 - 21

Horla and The Rose & Crown Theatre are seeking new work from established/new
writers and companies for a festival of new theatre that will take place
over 4 weeks. The Just Desserts Theatre Festival takes place 29th
October to 24th November 2001. It's 24 day celebration of the most vibrant
and diverse new work from the best emerging writers, theatre companies
and performers from the UK and abroad.

The

a writer and performer as well as being a dab hand at cartoon
and caricatures.
Chris has been producing images for Horla's productions since
October 1999 when he did the artwork for 'The Cask of Amontillado'
and 'The Magistrate.' Since then he has produced the artwork
for 'Tell Tale Heart', 'Cinnamon & Pork', Steven Berkoff's
'Kvetch', 'Grimms' and 'The Jests of Skoggan.'
He has also produced the artwork for Rose & Crown Theatre productions
of 'An Evening With Gary Lineker' and 'Up 'n' Under.'
