If you are planning a visit to Kingston upon thames then you couldn't have chosen…
Come and Join Kingston Choral Society!
As the Christmas holidays end, it’s time to try something new. What better than joining a local choir? Kingston Choral Society first rehearsal of the new year is at 8pm on Thursday 4th January 2024 – at our rehearsal venue, The Hollyfield School Surbiton. It’s easily accessible by bus and car, and less than 5 minutes walk from Surbiton Station. We’re always looking for new members, especially tenor and bass voices.
Singing together is a brilliant tonic for physical and mental health. If you think that choral singing is not for you, think again. It rapidly becomes addictive. Our 100+ members include men and women of all ages from 20 to nearly 90. Some are lifelong singers, while others decided to give it a whirl with no previous experience. We’re a sociable bunch, organising pub visits, walks and quizzes. A recent joiner described her first evening singing with us as “Friendly, fun, & really exhilarating!”
KCS is beyond blessed to work with two of the finest musicians of their generation: rising star Andrew Griffiths our Musical Director, supported by sought-after accompanist Gavin Roberts
On 4 January we start rehearsing for our next concert on March 16th. This will be the welcome return to Kingston of dramatic showstopper – Mendelssohn’s magnificent Elijah – and the season finale on June 22nd is a celebration of the stunning music of Henry Purcell.
We will also be holding a Come & Sing :Poulenc Gloria on Thursday 21st March 2024 – absolutely everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy a special evening of singing and cake!
To be part of it, come along and give us a try. For more information, check out Kingstonchoralsociety.org.uk/kcs/
