The Kingston Chamber Orchestra will be giving a concert on 22nd June featuring violist Milena Simović playing the wonderfully passionate Viola Concerto by Walton.
Serbian violist, Milena Simović, is enjoying an illustrious international career of concerto, recital and chamber music performances. Acclaimed for her work in Europe, Asia and America, Milena has appeared as a soloist in Russia, China, Italy, United Kingdom, Norway, France, Portugal, and through the countries of former Yugoslavia, performing alongside some of the most established personalities of today’s music scene. Her concerts have been broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, Medici TV, Rai Uno in Italy, Arte etc. and her performances praised in the press…
“…exceptionally delivered performance, charged with brilliant combination of operatic quality, which was jaw-dropping at times”, “seductive and exciting…with rare artistic
sensibility”
To complement this concerto, the orchestra will commence the concert with Wagner’s immensely powerful Prelude to Die Meistersingers. The second half will feature Delius’ Walk to the Paradise Garden, a beautiful extract from his opera A Village Romeo and Juliet. This will be followed by Stravinsky’s Divertimento that takes it’s music from his ballet The Fairy’s Kiss. This is an unusual work, as Stravinsky has used themes by Tchaikovsky or in the style of Tchaikovsky. No scary dissonances here – just some wonderful writing
and very colourful orchestration.
